Finally, an Indica to review! Before Cookies was the “it” strain, there was Grand Daddy Purple (GDP), ruling the roost within the cannabis community for more than 5 years. Now that’s quite a title run! Undeniably the most famous of all the purple strains. Easy to find and easy to grow, this staple of the pot scene will have you coming back for more.
Looks and Smell
GDP buds are an incredibly dense green that gains deep purple hues that run entirely throughout the buds (not just on the outside) as the plant grows into maturity. Bright orange hairs are abundant and provide a nice contrast to the other colours dotting the resin-coated buds. The smell is simple, and this may be a little bit cliché, but it really smells like grapes.
Back in my previous life, I grew this strain for many years. I can easily identify GDP by taste alone. Again a distinctive grape taste is a predominant flavour. This taste tends to linger on the tongue for an extended period of time. The effects are long-lasting (3-4 hours) with a smooth, even feeling throughout. Amazing medication to end your night in a deep body melt.
I always think of GDP as a nighttime strain. Although it’s not the heaviest of Indica strains, I can think of many other strains more suitable for daytime use. That being said, GDP is considered one of the best “healing” strains. This and the increased appetite qualities make it a favourite among patients coping with the side effects of chemotherapy. GDP is also great for insomnia issues. GDP seems to be everywhere now, so if you come across it, don’t miss your chance to partake in this legendary strain.
Granddaddy Purple, also known as “Grand Daddy Purple” or “GDP” or “Grand Daddy Purps,” is a heavy indica dominant strain. created through crossing the classic Big Bud X Purple Urkle strains. This flavorful bud is said to be the grandfather of all weed strains, packing timeless full-bodied. effects and an infamous flavor that will leave you begging for more.
